New pneumonia data published on the Development Data Hub

Development Initiatives (DI) has published new data on pneumonia-related funding on their Development Data Hub, a free data visualisation tool.

The new data release coincides with World Pneumonia Day (12 November) and the publication of The Missing Piece: why continued neglect of pneumonia threatens the achievement of health goals, a report featuring DI data analysis. Data on international funding to pneumonia analysed in the report can be found in the new release on the Data Hub.

Using the Development Data Hub, you can explore detailed data on international development assistance to pneumonia. It is a free data visualisation tool that provides a comprehensive online source for financial and resource flow data alongside poverty, social and vulnerability indicators. It combines an extensive data store with interactive visualisations, enabling you to chart, map and compare data at the global, national and local level.

• ODA to pneumonia received, US$ This metric tracks official development assistance (ODA) with a stated relevance to pneumonia vaccines, research, treatment and diagnosis by recipient country in US$.
• ODA to pneumonia received as a percentage of health ODA This metric tracks ODA with a stated relevance to pneumonia vaccines, research, treatment and diagnosis by recipient country as a percentage of overall health ODA.
• Private development assistance to pneumonia received, US$ This metric tracks private development assistance from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to combat pneumonia by recipient country in US$.
• Funding proceeds to Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, US$ This metric tracks proceeds to Gavi, the Vaccines Alliance, by donor country in US$. A proportion of this funding received by Gavi will, in turn, be spent by Gavi towards pneumonia-relevant vaccines.
