DI appoints Diane Kingston OBE to board of directors

Diane Kingston OBE will join Development Initiatives’ (DI’s) board in 2019.

DI is pleased to announce that Diane Kingston OBE has been appointed to the organisation’s board of non-executive directors. She joins board members Paul Stuart, Timothy Takona, Tina Blazquez-Lopez and Professor Alex Ezeh, whose appointments were announced earlier this year.

Diane is Senior Advisor for Policy and Government Affairs at Frontline AIDS, the global HIV and AIDS charity. She is also a member of the Department for International Development’s Independent Reference Group on tackling sexual exploitation and abuse and sexual harassment, member of Bond’s Steering Committee on the Sustainable Development Goals, and the Co-chair of Bond’s Leave No One Behind group.

She has worked on social justice issues in international development and human rights throughout her career, in particular as the UK’s elected member of the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), Deputy Director of Advocacy and Alliances for CBM, Global Disability Advisor for Sightsavers and as joint Country Director of VSO Indonesia.

Diane’s skills, experience and perspective will complement the considerable acumen of DI’s existing board, which serves to provide advice, support and strategic direction to the organisation. Her appointment comes as part of DI’s planned 2019 board transition.
