What I do: I manage and support Development Initiatives’ (DI’s) work on the data revolution in Africa. I lead key partnerships with government, government agencies and others (primarily in Uganda, but also at our Africa Hub regional office in Nairobi) to increase access to and use of development data. I focus on building, maintaining and delivering key projects through these partnerships, ensuring the links between DI’s Africa projects connect to the organisation’s global strategy.
Previous experience: I spent six years working to promote open data and the data revolution in Uganda through coordinating the local data ecosystem as a Governance & Transparency Analyst for Development Research and Training, a Ugandan policy research organisation. In that role I also led open government engagements in the East Africa region, organising the first ever Open Development conference in Kampala in 2011. I hold an MSc in Population and Reproductive Health from Makerere University’s School of Statistics and Planning.
