DI's impact on development outcomes would not be possible without the work of the project management team. Our team ensures that DI’s work is delivered efficiently within a specified time frame, to a budget and meeting project objectives. We work across all DI offices and manages the delivery of a broad range of projects, ranging from research publications and technical products to high-profile events and operational improvements.
The team is often required to manage and contribute to proposals and bids for new work to support the development of the organisation. We work collaboratively with project team members and external stakeholders to scope a project and ensure it contributes to DI’s strategic aims. We develop a project implementation plan, which includes roles and responsibilities, and ensure this is clearly communicated to DI staff and stakeholders.
The team is integral to the monitoring and evaluation of our projects, supporting the assessment of our impact and facilitating important learning to ensure we remain impact focused in everything we do.
We establish and maintain productive partnerships with clients by gaining their trust and respect, identifying their needs and matching them to appropriate solutions, and keeping them informed of progress.
We are skilled in the various aspects of project management that include but are not limited to contract negotiation and management, budget management, risk management and resource management. Whilst the project management process at DI is built on the foundation of PMD Pro, team members employ knowledge from other methodologies as required, such as Agile and PRINCE 2.
The team demonstrates a wide range of technical skills to assist in the planning, budgeting and monitoring of projects, but it has to balance this with essential people-management skills that enable a project manager to lead, enable, motivate and communicate.
