What I do: I lead on the strategic communications and communications-specific outreach for the Global Nutrition Report, which DI has hosted since 2018.
Previous experience: I have spent five of the last nine years in the Middle East and North Africa region, where I worked in a wide variety of roles in the fields of international development and humanitarian assistance. While studying MA Social Anthropology and Arabic I interned as a research assistant with Save the Children UK in Egypt, conducting field research for a child rights situation analysis report. After graduating with first class honours with distinction in spoken Arabic I moved to Palestine, where I worked for a range of local and international organisations focusing on women’s, children’s and refugee rights. During this time, I led field research on a child marriage mapping and developed monitoring tools for the first learning review of a cash transfer programming reform at the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East. More recently, I worked as Syria Coordinator for the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom, where I managed a portfolio of 19 grantees for major sub granting pilot project. I am published translator and editor and have assisted in the production of a number of films for the UN.
