Mary Gaichiri
Senior Project Manager
Start date with DI: September 2020
Where I am based: Nairobi, Kenya
What I do: As a Senior Project Manager, I am involved in the management of the organisation’s grant and consultancy projects within our Africa Office. In this role, I am responsible for planning, budgeting, risk management and monitoring of projects to deliver high-quality outputs. I also manage client relationships and assist in the development of new business opportunities.
Previous experience: Prior to joining DI, I spent eight years managing projects in various community-based and international not-for-profit organisations, including the Center for Reproductive Rights, the United Nations Support Office for Somalia, the Rotary Club and the Northern Nomadic Disabled Persons’ Organization. I am passionate about working to support the sustainable economic empowerment of communities to enhance quality of life for marginalised households. Motivated by this, I have worked on projects across various countries in Africa – such as Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Nigeria, Malawi, Somalia and South Africa – as well as supporting work in other continents. My experience spans a range of humanitarian issues, from human rights and peace keeping, to reproductive health and disability.
