Bridget Rugube
Assistant Project Manager
Where I am based: Nairobi, Kenya
What I do: As an Assistant Project Manager, I provide technical support to the SDG Kenya Forum in implementing the 'Strengthening the mandate of the Inter-Agency Technical Working Committee in Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Implementation in Kenya' project. My role involves interfacing with the National Inter-Agency Technical Committee, crafting and supporting programme activities, and liaising with national and county governments, the private sector, United Nations officers and local community SDG champions in spearheading the development process and attainment of SDGs in Kenya.
Previous experience: My work in development began as an economist working for the Government of Zimbabwe in the Ministry of Regional Integration and International Cooperation. My role involved coordinating Zimbabwe’s participation in regional and multilateral trade negotiations as well as coordinating various government arms in regional and market integration initiatives. I later joined the Consumer Unity & Trust Society, Centre for International Trade, Economics and Environment (CUTS-CITEE) in Nairobi as a trade officer working on deepening regional trade within the East African Community (EAC). The organisation provides a wide array of services including knowledge generation on key issues affecting consumer welfare in Kenya and the EAC region. Prior to joining DI, I volunteered and provided technical support with the SDG Kenya Forum, an all-inclusive membership organisation that provides a platform for structured and coordinated CSO engagement with Kenyan national and county governments, the private sector, academia and other stakeholders.
