Momodou Touray appointed as DI’s new Poverty Research Director

We are delighted to announce that Momodou Touray has been appointed as DI’s new Poverty Research Director based in Nairobi, Kenya.

Momodou leads DI’s new thematic area measuring the progress of people out of poverty, which seeks to drive commitments and much-needed investment towards improving poverty data. It also aims to unpack the data that does exist, to build a more accurate picture of poverty.

He has worked in the development sector for fifteen years, including as an advisor at the United Nations Development Programme and more recently as Executive Director at the African Forum and Network on Debt and Development. His academic background includes an MSc in Economics from the University of Montpellier, France, and a BSc in Economics from Pierre Mendès-France University, France.

Momodou replaces Charles Lwanga-Ntale, who established DI’s East Africa office in 2011.
