DI to join new Advisory Group for Global Partnership

We are pleased to announce that Dan Coppard, our Director of Analysis, Research and Evidence, has been invited to join a new Advisory Group established by the Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation (GPEDC) to review its global monitoring framework. The framework is a unique feature of the GPEDC, and provides a framework for measuring progress in implementing the development effectiveness commitments made at Busan in 2011.

Building on previous monitoring exercises from 2005 onwards, the global monitoring framework responds to developing countries’ demands for a global accountability framework that supports national implementation efforts. The framework consists of a set of 10 indicators that measure progress in improving the effectiveness of development cooperation in specific areas related to ownership, results, inclusive development partnerships, transparency and mutual accountability among partners.

Dan will join a team of international experts with a remit to:

• Provide expertise for technical review of the refined measurement approaches and methodologies of the GPEDC’s four global pilot indicators
• Support implementation of the second monitoring round, contributing expertise particularly to quality assurance of the second Progress Report through supporting the translation of the results and key findings into actionable and policy relevant recommendations
• Provide guidance on the ways in which the monitoring framework can be applied to non-traditional cooperation modalities, including South-South cooperation, triangular cooperation and other innovative development approaches
• Review the GPEDC’s monitoring framework to ensure its conceptual relevance to post-2015 accountability efforts.
