Bristol-based international development organisation enters landmark three-year partnership with the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Korea

Development Initiatives (DI) is entering into a landmark partnership arrangement with the Government of the Republic of Korea (South Korea). A three-year agreement between DI and the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been signed. As a new emerging actor in international aid and development, South Korea is a major strategic partner for DI. The partnership is kicked off with a major global conference in Seoul in November 2015 to bring global actors together to take stock of the implementation of the Busan Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation.

Harpinder Collacott, Executive Director at DI, said “We are honoured to be selected by the Government of the Republic of Korea as a partner to support them with data research and analysis as they take on a greater international role as a nation. We are delighted to work with a partner who also shares our ambitions to end global poverty and highly values the importance of data and information in achieving this vision. We are particularly proud of our Bristol roots and are pleased that this partnership helps to establish the city on the map as a hub of skills and expertise worthy of international recognition.”

The agreement covers a wide range of areas that capitalise on DI’s core areas of expertise, such as strengthening humanitarian assistance for the international community, ensuring the effective use of all resources for ending poverty after the sustainable development goals come into force next year, and strengthening production, accessibility and use of data and evidence to inform better development work.
