DI to make strategic transition to new global operating model

DI is transitioning its Africa Hub to an autonomous African organisation. Throughout this transition we will remain innovative – a global centre of excellence for financing in development, driven by data and grounded in its political economy. As well as DI Africa, based in Kenya, we will retain our global presence in the UK and US, and the offices will work as sister entities.

This operating model will bring us closer to the organisations and people we want to collaborate with at all levels, from global institutions to regional, national and subnational organisations. We will work with our partners to strengthen data ecosystems in these locations, and ensure our evidence and analysis is tailored to their needs. The transition will keep us fit for the future.

The transition will be led by our Executive Team: Director of DI Africa, Stephen Chacha; Director of Policy & Research, Daniel Coppard; Director of Influence & Growth, Fionna Smyth; and Director of People & Culture, Janet Reilly. We have engaged Peter Sargent, a consultant at Eastside People to support us through this journey as interim Chief Transformation Officer. Peter brings a wealth of leadership and hands-on experience in the sector, having worked as a practitioner, adviser and facilitator at all levels with a range of civil society organisations and governments.

We recognise that change is never simple, and understand we have a lot to learn along this journey. We are grateful for all the support that we receive from staff, donors and partners. We will continue to provide updates as we move forward.
