Roundtable discussion on Investments to End Poverty 2015

Development Initiatives (DI) will hold a roundtable discussion to discuss its latest report, Investments to End Poverty 2015, launched in September. We will examine how official finance and other resources can work to their comparative advantages in ending poverty, achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and unpacking the barriers to providing better data. DI would like to engage in discussions around the realisation of the SDGs in the East Africa Community and the roles to be played by different stakeholders at the regional, national and sub-national levels.

Investments to End Poverty 2015, supported by our Development Data Hub, looks at the numbers behind the goal of ending poverty. This will be more challenging than halving it has been – people are still being left behind. The resources that could be driving poverty eradication should be targeted at the poorest people, wherever they are. But this demands much better data on poverty and resources, which is currently not fit for getting poverty to zero.

Format and speakers

The event will begin with an opening speech, presentation and panel discussions on Investments to End Poverty 2015 and the Development Data Hub, followed by a moderated discussion conducted under Chatham House Rules.
