Launch of the Spotlight on Uganda

This event will introduce our Spotlight on Uganda data tool and look at the state of Uganda’s data ecosystem, both from the producers’ and users’ perspectives.

Development Initiatives (DI) is pleased to invite you to the upcoming online launch of our Spotlight on Uganda data tool.

The Spotlight on Uganda brings together official publicly available data on various socioeconomic indicators and financial resources at both the national and subnational levels. It provides data and visualisations on key development indicators and financial flows at the subnational level; highlights key data gaps; and supports the increased use of data and information to reduce poverty and promote sustainable development in Uganda.

The online launch will bring together a variety of specialists, data producers and users to introduce the tool and initiate discussion on the insights the data is bringing out. The event will look at the state of Uganda’s data ecosystem, both from the producers’ and users’ perspectives, as well as setting out the challenges and opportunities for the future. Finally, we will seek feedback from the audience on how to further develop the data tool.

The event will include an introduction by DI, a demonstration of the data tool, a panel discussion and an audience discussion. The panel discussion will feature a range of expert speakers from government ministries, and will focus on the five thematic areas which the data on the tool covers: poverty and vulnerability, development finance, water and sanitation, health, and education.
