Steve Kenei

Data Scientist

Start date with DI: April 2012

Where I am based: Nairobi

What I do: I’m a Data Scientist with the Nairobi Africa Hub team. I work on sourcing data used for analysis, and verifying its integrity, while also acting as the lead for IATI in supporting NGOs to publish to the standard. Besides this, I contribute to analysis around open data and development programmes and I’m keen on the African-led Data Revolution debate. I also manage the Hub’s IT system.

I love science and technology, and everything else geeky, and I’m known for my random facts of the day. I enjoy spending time reading and listening to music (a love that sees me acting as the hub’s resident DJ).

Previous experience: Steve has previously worked with the former Electoral Commission of Kenya, CFC Stanbic Bank and the National Examination Council of Kenya.

Likes: football and supports the Arsenal Football Club.

Dislikes: Mills & Boon novels
