Start date with DI: January 2016
Where I am based: Kampala, Uganda
What I do: I manage and support DI’s key partnerships with government, government agencies and our other partners in Uganda to increase access to and the use of development data. I focus on building, maintaining and delivering key projects through these partnerships, ensuring the links between DI’s local projects connect to the organisation’s strategy.
Previous experience: I spent four years working in media in Uganda, including as a writer for the Daily Monitor, one of the country’s major dailies. I also spent six years as a Researcher and as a Governance and Transparency Analyst for Development Research and Training where I coordinated the local CSO coalition for Open Data in Uganda, among other governance and transparency-focused activities. In between I provided consultation on politics and governance issues for organisations, and occasionally gave television and newspaper commentary on governance and political issues in Uganda and the East African region.
