Location: Grand Imperial Hotel, Kampala, Uganda
About: Much of the data that is crucial for development planning and evaluation in Uganda is spread across the respective agencies of government and not presented in easy-to-use formats. Development Initiatives is launching its ‘Spotlight on Uganda’, a free online tool that helps improve access to crucial datasets on key development indicators for Uganda.
Available via our Development Data Hub, the Spotlight on Uganda gives users visualised data on health, education, environment, population and other sectoral outcomes. It showcases budgets and investment inflows and outflows and provides an excellent resource for policymakers and other stakeholders in Uganda’s development.
The Spotlight was launched in its first (‘beta’) form in Kampala in 2015, and this updated version brings in recent data from sources such as the Uganda Bureau of Statistics, local government budgets and the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, among others. We hope that the launch will strengthen relationships between users and producers of data to ensure that the Spotlight on Uganda is an effective resource that guides decision-making.
During this event, we will also share findings of our forthcoming publication Uganda’s budget 2017/18: What can we learn from it in planning for 2018/19?
We will present to an audience of ministries, departments and agencies, CSOs, academia, development partners and private sector stakeholders.
